What’s the difference between a spigot system and a base shoe system?

A spigot system uses individual stainless-steel mounts to hold each glass panel, giving a very minimal, floating look, faster installation, lower cost, and good drainage—ideal for residential decks and pool areas. An aluminium channel system uses a continuous base shoe that holds the glass along its entire length, making it stronger, more rigid, and better for commercial or high-rise applications. It provides a sleek, continuous line and can be recessed for a fully frameless appearance, but it’s more expensive and labour-intensive to install.

Do I need a top rail on a frameless system?

If you’re using laminated Sentry glass, then it’s not mandatory to use a top-rail, but when using monolithic glass, a top-rail is required.

Can I use the same glass panels in different systems?

Yes, depending on the layout of the job and panel heights, you can. The glass thickness and size will also depend on the engineering that is needed for the specific area it is being installed into, for example, residential or high wind area commercial jobs will require completely different glass sizes.
