Installing frameless glass pool fencing adds elegance and safety to your outdoor area. Follow this step-by-step guide to securely install your fence using the Pro-Fit S48GP Spigot for optimal stability.

Tools and Materials

  • Frameless glass panels
  • Pro-Fit S48GP Spigots
  • Chalk line
  • Measuring tape
  • Template for drilling
  • Drill
  • Vacuum
  • Timber blocks
  • Plastic packers
  • Level
  • Allen key
  • Soft-close hinges
  • Glass props
  • Bucket of water
  • Glass clamping tools
  • Corner clamping kit
  • High early strength grout
  • Flexi funnel
  • Magnetic latch
  • Rubber gaskets

Step 1: Measure and Mark

  • Measure the total length of the desired fence area.
  • Divide evenly using standard stock-sized glass panels.
  • Mark the centre line of the fence at both ends and use a chalk line to create a clear reference.
  • Clearly mark out the widths of each glass panel and the desired gap distances between panels.
  • Mark spigot drilling locations 20% in from the edge of each glass panel to ensure maximum strength.

Step 2: Drilling Holes

  • Place the drilling template over the marked spigot locations.
  • Drill carefully through the paving substrate and continue drilling into the concrete footing beneath.
  • Vacuum out any water or debris from drilled holes to ensure a clean fit.

Step 3: Levelling Setup

  • Arrange timber blocks to aid in the initial levelling of the fence.
  • Begin levelling at the highest point using a level and plastic packers, ensuring the fence is consistent across its entire length.

Step 4: Preparing Glass Panels

  • Install soft-close hinges loosely onto the gate panel.
  • Mark spigot locations on the glass panels, again 20% in from the edges.
  • Secure the spigots to the panels using an Allen key, verifying each spigot is square to the glass.
  • Install the cover rings onto each spigot and hold them there with tape

Step 5: Panel Installation

  • Carefully flip glass panels vertically and insert them into pre-drilled holes.
  • Secure the glass temporarily with glass props and tighten the wing nuts.
  • Slide a bucket of water onto the platform to help secure each panel in the upright position.
  • Adjust the glass prop as necessary to achieve a perfectly level position.

Step 6: Gate Installation

  • Install the gate by attaching the backing plates of the hinges, leaving them loose initially.
  • Check and adjust the gate height using plastic packers for proper alignment.
  • Tighten the hinges securely once correct alignment is achieved.

Step 7: Final Alignment and Securing

  • Repeat the installation process for remaining glass panels, constantly checking heights and alignment.
  • Make fine adjustments using plastic packers to ensure panels are perfectly aligned.
  • Secure the fence temporarily with a glass clamping kit, and use a corner clamping kit and string line to maintain straight alignment.

Step 8: Grouting

  • Mix high early strength grout and water to a lump-free, smooth consistency.
  • Pour grout carefully into drilled holes using a flexi funnel.
  • Allow grout to cure fully, typically between 20 to 60 minutes, depending on ambient temperature.
  • Once grout has set, remove timber blocks and installation tools from the fence.

Step 9: Latch Installation

  • Install the magnetic latch by first removing the required amount of rubber gaskets based on gate glass thickness.
  • Align the latch with the edge of the glass and secure it firmly into place.
  • Install the friction latch plate on the adjacent glass panel, ensuring it lines up flush with the pull latch.

Final Check

Soft-close hinges are pre-set at the correct closing speed; confirm the smooth operation of the gate and adjust only if necessary.

By carefully following these instructions, you’ll achieve a secure, attractive, and compliant frameless glass pool fence.
